Introduction

Upper Knapp Farm Day Nursery has been serving the communities in Cam, Dursley and beyond since 1994. It has established an enviable reputation as a welcoming, warm and professional childrens’s day care centre. We are proud of the recommendations given by our current parents, views that can be echoed back over the years and the 100s of children that have passed though our doors. We are also proud to remain a family-run day nursery. Leanne McCreight and Colin Dennis, the owners, cannot praise enough the achievements of the hard working staff some of whom go back to opening day.

Please take time to read through our web site. For those here to explore the possibility of sending their child to us the Quick Guide link gives a brief overview. For more details on specific issues please go to Nursery Policies and Procedures - a page which might also prove useful to existing parents.

Of course there is nothing better than to take a real look for your self so please feel free to book an appointment to view the nursery in action. You and your family are assured of a special welcome.

Upper Knapp Farm

Is a Grade II listed farmhouse dating in parts from the 14th Century. The nursery wing was a recent addition - only 300 years old! Throughout the house may be seen many original features including a 16th century typical Gloucestershire farmhouse window, 15th century oak beams, flagstones and cellars. A notable feature is the 15th Century front door (below). It is reputed that King Charles II stayed in one of the rooms in 1651.

Our Facilities

Being a very old house each room has its uniqueness and character which helps contribute to a warm and homely atmosphere. The baby unit is housed in the first floor baby room and quiet cot room. Children of around 2 years use the toddler room and the older pre-school children occupy 2 rooms on the ground floor. Weather permitting much time is also spent outside on the patio or in the ‘secret’ garden where the children can exercise and play. In addition there is a kitchen, reception area, a children’s bathroom, a ‘messy’ area and quiet reading area.
